Shortoff Mountain Retreats · Stay guide
Outdoor living
Make a little room for doing nothing.
Coffee on the porch. A long lunch after a hike. One more conversation around the fire. The outdoor spaces are part of the stay, not just the view.
Ten wooded acres
The mountain setting offers space to slow down between outings to Lake James and Linville Gorge. Respect property boundaries and use designated public access for nearby trails.
Your seat on the porch
The wraparound porch gives your group places to sit, read and eat outside. Start with breakfast in the fresh air and return when you are ready for a quieter afternoon.
Evenings around the fire
Gather at the fire pit and Adirondack seating after dinner. Use it only when house instructions and current fire restrictions allow.
Play, pause, rinse, repeat
Cornhole, a hammock and outdoor dining add variety to days at home. The outdoor shower is seasonal and may be shut off in freezing weather.
Head for the lake
Paddleboards and inflatable kayaks are listed for guest use. Confirm equipment availability, suitable life jackets and transport plans with your hosts. Public lake access is separate from the property.
Make the mountains your next gathering place.
